The Kingdom of Genocide media is complicit in Israel’s genocide! I am not surprised by that. Are you? The Centre for Media Monitoring has released a report on corporate media coverage of Israel’s genocide. This report is concentrating on British media.

The case study shows an “overwhelming” bias in favour of the Israeli settler colonial state. As such, the UK media, which the report focuses on, is manufacturing consent for the mass slaughter of Palestinians. This includes the BBC. Due to persistent Anglo-Zionist propaganda, BBC was perceived as one of the leaders of Western “free” journalism. It was always false. However, their blindingly fake journalism in the past three decades gradually eroded their credibility. It is essential to say that the British government wholly owns and controls the BBC. It is, therefore, not surprise it is playing crucial role in that government propaganda.

Today, the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM)releases its latest report, ‘Media Bias Gaza 2023-24’, exposing significant biases in media coverage.

KEY FINDINGS

  • Language Utilisation: Emotive language describes Israelis as victims of attacks 11 times more than Palestinians.
  • Framing of Events: Most TV channels overwhelmingly promote “Israel’s right” to defend itself, overshadowing Palestinian rights by a ratio of 5 to 1.
  • In broadcast TV, Israeli perspectives were referenced almost three times more than Palestinian ones.
  • In online news it was almost twice as much.
  • Contextual Framing: 76% of online articles frame the conflict as an “Israel-Hamas war,” while only 24% mention “Palestine/Palestinian,” indicating a lack of context.
  • Misrepresentation and Undermining: Pro-Palestinian voices face misrepresentation and vilification by media outlets, perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
  • Right wing news channels and right-wing British publications were at the forefront of misrepresenting pro-Palestinian protestors as antisemitic, violent or pro Hamas.

The Kingdom and its media know how to hate and be racist

The report also analysed language used. When broadcast uses emotive language, it’s 11 times more likely to refer to Israeli deaths as victims of attacks than Palestinians. And in TV clips, the media uses two out of three emotive terms for Israeli deaths, compared to one in 10 for Palestinian deaths.

The bias on language pervades corporate online reporting as well, where emotive terms were four times more prevalent when describing Israeli victims.

The content analysis looks at coverage from 7 October, when the violence escalated, to 7 November. In only the first week of that month Israel killed at least 720 Palestinian children. The widespread biased media reporting provided the setting for the in-motion genocide where Israel has now killed over 30,000 Palestinians.
